Another week...

....has gone by and I can't believe the summer is going so fast! Eeek! I hope you all are enjoying your summer!

The next round of the Paper Crafts Card Idol contest is up and ready again. I'd love it if you would come and vote for your favorite. It's really easy this time...all the cards are in a row and at the bottom there is a link to vote. When you click it, it will give you all the names of the people, just check which one you want! It's that simple this time! There is no signing in or anything. I made it in the top 10 and this week 5 people will move onto the next round! Voting is up until Thursday at noon.

Here is the link to all the cards and voting: Cards with Quotes

This is the card I created for the contest. I used some October Afternoon journaling cards and attached them with ribbon in the back so the card can be folded up and sent in an envelope. Added chipboard letters to spell out "home" with a little doorknocker and quote by Melissa Frances that says, "Where we love is Home. Home is where our feet may leave...but not our hearts. ~Oliver Wendell Holmes." (click on photos to see them larger)

I hope you will come and vote for your favorite! There are SO many amazing cards!

Next, I wanted to share a little mini album that I made for Right at Home Scrapbooking. It is a kit that you can purchase. You get everything you see here plus a LOT more in this kit with directions and photos to complete each page! When it is open, it is 12x12 so you will have 10 full 12x12 pages to fit all your vacation photos in! There are chipboard pages, as well as acrylic pages to mix it up a bit. Click on the link above for information on purchasing the kit.
(Currently Out for Publication, ScrapStreet Ezine - Sept. 2008)
Well, that's all for me today! Thanks for stopping by! I love to read all your comments. And to my family in South Dakota reading this...I can't wait to see you all in a few short weeks! We are just thrilled to be coming home soon! ~Danielle~

A Princess Party!

Today was my day to post a project on the Pink Paislee blog, so I decided to make something fun and girly with the new Pop Fashion papers.....a little party invitation and table decoration! I have 2 girls and we love all things pink and girly!

The first is an easy invitation you can create for your guests!

First, I took one piece of a sheer crown album by Maya Road (you get 8 pages in this album) and added a folded piece of the Jellies paper to the front (it opens up to add the party information inside). Next, I added “it’s a” with the new Fashion Script sticker letters, “fashionista” rub on from the Pop Fashion rub ons, and “party!” with black sticker letters. The crown had one hole in the left side where it was attached to the album, so I punched another hole on the right side and tied pink twine across in a bow, then added a bit more of the Pop Fashion rub ons underneath. A few pearl gems topped off the crown. Very easy to make!
(Currently Out for Publication, Cards Magazine - Jan. 2008)
With 4 of the remaining crowns from the mini album, I created a table decoration. What I did was cover each crown front and back with the Bell Bottoms paper and the Bermuda Shorts paper. (Trace crown onto back of paper, cut out and adhere to crown.) Then I punched holes in the corners of the crown and tied them together with twine. I added a design to the front piece with sticker letters, a strip of the Hip Huggers paper, and a ribbon. You can set a bowl inside filled with goodies for the party. (I added a bowl of Hershey Kisses.)

This is the view from the top:
And lastly, don't forget to add a photo of the princess tucked inside the bowl!
This idea can be used with any sort of chipboard! You can make a haunted house for Halloween or a train or other boy shape for a boy’s party with the new Pink Paislee Vintage Moon papers. Really the possibilities are endless! I hope I've inspired you! And if you love these papers and rub ons, hold on to your checkbook because I have a card kit coming on August 15th with all of the Pop Fashion papers and rub ons! Papers will be 12 x 12, so you can use them for your pages as well. Check back soon for more information!

thank you!

Thank you so much for everyone who follows my blog and voted for me in the Paper Crafts Card Idol contest! I made it on to the next round! The theme this time is monochromatic cards (all one color). Voting has started and you'll have until Thursday at noon to vote for your favorite card and then 10 of the 15 people will move on to the next round!

Here is the link to see all of the cards: Monochromatic cards
Here is the link to my card: Snowflake card "Baby It's Cold Outside"
(To vote, click on my card and underneath you will see "to vote for your favorite, click here".)

I chose to go with white, not so sure if that was a smart move or not! It was so difficult to get a good photo of this card. I used 2 pieces of Maya Road sheer snowflakes and tied them together to make a card. I added a resin frame, chipboard letters, chipboard snowflake, ribbon, and rub ons by Melissa Frances. I also added some "snow" on the top of the snowflakes with white paint and glitter which it's a little hard to tell in the photos.

Thank you so much for your support! I'm having a lot of fun with this contest and pushing my creativity. I've never made a monochromatic card before!

Here are a couple of cards I made for an on-line magazine called Scrapbook News and Review. They wrote to me a month or two ago and asked if I would do an article about myself with 2 unique cards just for their magazine and here is what I came up with. This one is made with SEI's Chick-a-Dee line and a Melissa Frances rub on, chipboard flower and resin frame.
The Lazy Days of Summer was made with some Pink Paislee Spring Fling papers, a Riff Raff chipboard butterfly, a Melissa Frances rub on and chipboard flower and the little sun is from a piece of Sassafras Lass paper.
Wishing you a happy day today! Thanks for visiting me! Hugs! ~Danielle~

Summer love....

We've finally been able to get out and enjoy the weather lately, took the girls swimming the past few days and it's been so nice to get out and get some sun! I feel like a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders now that all my projects for CHA are done and shipped off! Phew, now I can enjoy the rest of the summer! But oh how I wish I could go and see everyone's projects and meet everyone at CHA..I'm hoping I can go someday soon. I'd love to meet all you peeps out there! So anyway...it felt weird scrapping Christmas items for this, but fun at the same time. Here are some things I made for Melissa Frances with their new papers, tickets and resin pieces! Melissa Frances is having a blog giveaway all this week, so be sure to check it out.
I believe card:
This is a wooden frame I found at a discount store, covered it with paper, added a resin frame (I am so addicted to these!!!), added a sticker inside the frame, a chipboard tree and some craft store berries, moss, etc.
(Currently Out for Publication, Scrapbook Trends - Dec. 2008)
This is my little angel, Kati eating snow last winter! tee hee

And this is a 4" x 7" box that comes with a mini accordian album inside. I covered the box with papers, chalked the edges with brown chalk and added glittery chipboard letters with more craft store goodies on top and another resin frame.

Thank you all so much for voting in the Paper Crafts' Card Idol contest (see post below)!! I can't believe what supporters I have out there, you are all so sweet! I appreciate your nice comments you have left me and for coming out and supporting me. I believe today is the last day to vote for this round, and then tomorrow we should be finding out who moves onto the next round. Voting will start again next Monday (if I make it! ha)

One more thing: if you haven't seen my newest card kit called Summer Love...please stop in and check it out at Create My Keepsake! The papers are 12x12 so they are perfect for your summer layouts as well if you are not so much a card maker. LOVE the fun patterns and goodies in this kit! Instructions for 4 cards are included with photos. Check out the CMK blog for photos of all the cards I made for it.

Enjoy your day today! ~Danielle~

Please come and vote.....

*Sweet Monday* to you!
Well, I decided to enter my cardmaking skills into the Paper Crafts Gallery Card Idol contest again this year and made it into the top 20 out of about 800 people! Last year I made it into the top 5 and then Valerie Salmon was awarded the grand prize (rightfully so...her card was totally off-the-hook amazing!). So....here I go again, entering this little contest! I'd love it if you could come on over and vote! The theme this time was "SCALLOPS" and boy is it fun to see all the different ways the ladies used scallops on their cards! The top 15 with the most votes will move on to the next round.

Here is the link to see all of the cards (mine is under my name: DanielleFlanders): Card Idol "Scallops" gallery
and here is the link to vote! VOTE here

(I believe you can only vote once this time per computer.) I'll tell you a little bit about my card....

When I think of scallops, I think of girly and happy! So I decided on a pink and green color scheme and used the quote "Be glad" on the front of the card. I used two pages from a chipboard tree album and covered with paper, then cut scalloped strips for the tree trunk and limbs with my scalloped scissors. Added scallops to the bird's wing and inside page too. Also stitched around the scallops on the tree top. The inside quote says, "It isn't what you have in your pocket that makes you thankful, but what you have in your (heart)."

Here are some photos of the card I entered, you can click on them to see them in more detail!

Papers are made by Dream Street, chipboard tree/bird/scalloped frame are by Maya Road, flowers/BE GLAD saying/ribbon are Creative Cafe, and the rub on is made by Melissa Frances. Thank you sooo much for your support! It means the world to me!!!!!

Welcome to the Blog Hop! Wohoooo! I'm so excited to share with you some of the new Pink Paislee scrumptious goodies that are coming out at CHA! Here is a little card that I created with 2 pieces of a Maya Road clear butterfly album. I used some of the new Pop Fashion papers on the inside and the new Pop Fashion rub ons in silver on the front, which I ADORE! You are going to love everything. Seriously!! The sticker letters are a new font that is coming out also, love them! The little butterfly stamp is also from the new Pop Fashion collection...I stamped it onto a thick transparency and folded it to create a bit of dimension.
