______

Here are some things I made with the kits.
First, an ornament...

The dies in the kit were used to cut the 3 layers: trees in the background, the house in the center and the deer in the front. I stamped them with the stamps in the kit, then stacked them one on top of the other, layering them with pop dots. Cute, but not quite complete...it still needs a tiny bit of magic, don't you think? :)

Next, I added some of the "snow" from the kit. I just used my finger to dab wet glue over the tree tops, house top and on the snowy hills, and then added a few flakes. The snow transforms the whole look! I love this little winter scene!

Now it has that "Wow, how did you make that?" factor... :) But wait, not done yet! You could add this to a card, but I wanted to make an ornament with it.
To back the ornament, I cut one of the large die tags in red cardstock and then added a half round ornament bulb to the front. The tinsel was glued around the outside of the ornament. I used a twisty tie from the kit as the hook to hang it. The kids could get in on making these for teachers, grandparents, etc!

Next, a quick card made with the ribbon slider frame die and the patterned papers.

The smaller tag in the center is preprinted and trimmed out with the tag die. See the little blue ribbon? It's self adhesive! I peeled off the backing and added it to the larger ribbon.

When I first started with the kit, I trimmed out all the smaller tags from the preprinted tag sheet with the die and cut an A2 size of each paper, so I could have some of each right in front of me to work with. It inspires me to see it all in one place and ready to go!

Below are the larger preprinted tags in the kit that you get to trim out with the ribbon slider tag die. I love how it embosses around the frame also.

On this gift box, I used one of the larger ones. The Noel tag was already so beautiful, I didn't want to add much to it. The die that matches with these tags also cuts the slots, so you can slide the ribbon right through! Isn't that gorgeous how it slides onto the ribbon? It looks so professional.

The cute box was in the kit and measures roughly 8" wide x 4" high x 1 1/2" deep. Would be a great gift with a stack of cards inside! I just wrapped it with a piece of patterned paper from the kit that I cut slightly wider than the tag. On the Noel tag, I added some die cut and stamped greenery, a banner and berries to give the tag a tiny bit more dimension.

To create the bow, I just wrapped the two ends together with a twisty tie in the kit and trimmed the ends of the bow into a V shape. I attached the ends of the ribbon down to the box, so they would stay down like this.

Can you see the cross-hatch in the paper? That is such nice paper that these are printed on. I love it. Beautiful!

Last is one more ornament that I attached to a gift bag.
The half ornaments come in the kit. All I added in this ornament was a large tag cut from the patterned paper, a mini tree and some snow. Couldn't be easier! After the gift is given, the recipient not only has a gift inside the bag, but the ornament to keep as well.
What is your favorite thing about the kit?
Betsy has some great videos on what's in the kit and how to assemble these beautiful wintery scenes HERE on Nichole's blog. Make sure to check those out! Visit Nichole's blog, Betsy, Dawn, Heather and Melissa for more inspiration with Tinsel & Tags!

Gossamer Blue sneaks...

The October kits for Gossamer Blue will be out in just a few days! I have a few sneak peeks to share with you. I can't say enough about these kits. If you are looking for a great kit club, give them a try...there is no fee to cancel anytime you want, so there is really nothing to lose! This is just a peek of the main Oct. kit, a fun mix of Teresa Collins' Nine & Co. line, Crate Paper's Notes and Things, MME's Jubilee line, Chickaniddy Crafts and some exclusives made just for this kit.

These two were made with the main kit mixed with a couple of the project life cards from the Life Pages kit.

And last, a couple of sneaks from the October main kit only.

And I have some awesome news!

Gossamer Blue has 3 new scrapbooking collections of their own, and they're now shipping! You can order them directly from the Gossamer Blue store:

GET HAPPY is the first one - a beautiful holiday line. You can see more of it HERE on the blog.

GRAMERCY ROAD is the second one with the pretty leaves and unique take on fall colors! See more of this one up close HERE.

And ON MY DESK - with golds and peaches and blacks and teals. Very pretty! See it in detail HERE.

burlap and bouquets...

Just a couple of cards for fun today made with Fancy Pants' new Burlap and Bouquets line...isn't it lovely? I just layered some of the Large Decorative Tags in the background, some of the Brag Cards on top of that, and then a few of the Ephemera pieces (florals).

On the Thanks card, I stamped the sentiment with Papertrey Ink's Thank You Kindly stamp set and added some gold twine. The "And" is from the Button Set. It's chipboard, and I love the dimension it gives!
I'm loving the color black lately. Not sure why, but I think it may be the contrast it lends with the other colors, just makes everything pop!

Well, I'm very glad you stopped by and hope you are having a great weekend! I'm getting my house all spiffy for my friend Claudia to come over and visit tomorrow. Can't wait to see her again. What are you currently working on? I'll be back soon with some Gossamer Blue cards, the next Make It Market kit called Tinsel & Tags, and another Monthly Moments project, so lots coming!

Is it Christmas yet?

It's only September, but I think Christmas is one of my favorite card-making holidays. What do you like to make for the holidays? Cards, tags, gifts, home decor? I'm putting together a little class for my neighborhood get-together and was just curious what you all had to say about holiday crafting. This is the Fancy Pants Oh Deer! collection. Isn't it cute? Puts me in the holiday mood!

Make It Monday video tutorial: Paper Casting...

I thought I'd try and do something new and different for this "Make It Monday" and show you how to use your Papertrey Ink stamps and dies with a paper casting technique! This is SO easy to do. Ridiculously easy. And inexpensive! You can watch my Paper Casting video HERE.
I've used my Papertrey Ink stamps as a mold to create paper casts. Basically, to get a good impression in your paper cast, you'll want to use a stamp that has more bold lines to it, as sometimes the fine details can get lost in this technique. But not always! Trial and error is really the key to discovering which stamps of yours will work the best for you. I think the bolder stamp images just show up a little bit better, like the tree and the snowflake.

Also, I discovered that if you are going to cut these into a shape, like the Tag Sale #4 die that I used one some of these (above), you'll need to die cut the tag shape FIRST before doing the paper casting technique. If you try to run these through your cutting machine after you've made the cast, it simply flattens the image out, and you will loose that beautiful embossed look. You'll see in the video that you can use dies as a mold to achieve this look also! (Pictured below.) These are made by paper casting over the Delicate Details die.

On this snowflake tag below, instead of cutting it out with a die, I just cut around the image with my scissors. Then after it was completely dry, I used the same stamp that I paper casted with (the snowflake image) and stamped into again into the debossed snowflake image with Versamark ink. Then I poured Zing embossing powder into the paper cast, shook off the excess and heat embossed it. It adds a beautiful colored image to the inside of the paper cast! With this technique, not only do you end up with a beautiful paper cast, but also a beautiful colored image.

On the "& To All a Good Night" tag, I paper casted with a sentiment stamp, then when it was dry, I stamped into it again with black ink to help the embossed sentiment show up a bit better. You could add a TO:/FROM: on the back of the tiny tag. You can also add some glitter and/or glossy accents or Mod Podge (something that won't turn them yellow) to harden them and make them look like ceramic when finished! A glossy finish sealant spray might work as well.
Hope you'll take a peek at my video and let me know what you think. Give it a try, it's easy and fun - something different you might not have done before. Be creative with it and have fun! HERE is a link to other ones that I've made in the past. And THIS is what inspired me today! Those are all made of clay, but how inspiring are they? Love, love.

Crop & Create Delivered ...

Scrapbook and Cards Today Magazine asked me to create a few cards with instructions for their Fabulous Fall kit, and I had a lot of fun with these beautiful Fancy Pants products, mixed with some American Crafts and Simple Stories goodies. Click HERE to see the full kit contents! I believe there are still a few kits left! There are also project instructions for layouts and other items as well! Here are the cards you'll get to make:
This one is my favorite, don't you love Fancy Pants' Burlap & Bouquets line? Scrumptious.
And the flair and burlap shapes add such dimension.
More Fancy Pants papers here with some American Crafts die cuts from the kit, and I used the stamp set that was made just for the kit for the sentiment.
Gold, gold, gold. I can't get enough of it lately!
On this one, you'll learn a cool technique for these stamped leaves in the background.

And last, but not least, a bit of fun layering on this one with vellum and die cuts.
That Maya Road leaf-shaped pin! Oh my goodness, so much fun.

Had a lot of fun with all of the patterns and warm fall colors, hope you will too! Thanks for reading today, I appreciate you all. Have a beautiful day! I'm off to the Scrapbook Expo in Denver to see what's happening and take a Technique Tuesday class. Eee! I haven't been to a class in ages. Bye!

Make It Market: Tinsel & Tags sneak peek...

Popping in really quick to share with you a sneak peek of the next Make It Market kit by Papertrey Ink called Tinsel & Tags. You are going to be blown.away.by.this. Honestly. Betsy Veldman is amazing at putting together items that you've probably never had in a kit before, and the way she puts together color and stamps and dies that are out of the box...she's just truly genious, I tell ya. So anyway...here is my peek. EVERYTHING you see here comes in the kit and SO MUCH MORE! There are stamp sets (plural), lots of dies, pretty paper in an 8.5x11" paper pad, these clear baubles...I don't know what you call them, but aren't they neat? Also embellishments, ribbons and even gift bags and boxes. See? Amazing. You can create ornaments, gift bags and tags and gift wrap, and of course cards 'til your heart is content. Grab one when they come out on October 1st! You can read more about it here.

Release day: September...

Today is release day! All of the fun things we've been showing you the past few days (and what I have to show you today) will be available tonight at 10pm EST at Papertrey Ink! I have a few more things to share.

While I was making the bookmarks for my last post, I loved how the colorful leaves turned out and thought they would go cute with the Birthday Classics: October stamp set too. What I did to create the background on this card is die cut the large leaf spray from Doodlie-Do into the woodgrain paper. Then I overlaid some colorful leaves to match the shapes, just offsetting them slightly.

October Birthday card:

PAPER: Classic Kraft, Pure Poppy, Lemon Zest, Dark Chocolate Bitty Dot; woodgrain and plaid paper - Fancy Pants Designs

Here is the Phrase Play #8 stamps and die. Don't you just love this joy die cut? Oh my goodness. I think it's my favorite item of the whole release! I made a home decor project with it, and honestly, this project could NOT be any easier!
The joy frame was cut out twice, once with gold paper and once with vellum. Then I offset the two cuts slightly and sandwiched them in between two acrylic stamping blocks. To hold them together, I wrapped the edges of the blocks all the way around with washi tape. I added fine glitter to the outside for the "snow" by just attaching some glue dots and sprinkling on the glitter. A tag stamped with Phrase Play #8 finishes it off. The gold string I found at the craft store is wired, so you can shape it into little curls. So fun!

You could even add a photo inside if you wanted to, but I made mine clear this time, so you could see through the blocks to get the gist of the project. Also, since you are simply wrapping it with washi tape, you can take the tape off easily, take the blocks apart and change out the center for the seasons! When you are creating the center, just lay the first stamping block down on your table, place the die cuts where you want them, then place the second block on top. No adhering is even necessary, which makes it easy to change it out for the holidays.

On these tags are the new Keep It Simple: Christmas, Keep It Simple: Season's Greetings and Season's Greetings stamp sets. Just like my post the other day, I painted these with chalkboard paint after die cutting them from Tag Sale #4 out of thin chipboard.
The fronts and backs are both painted, so you can write to/from on the backs of the tags with chalk or a white pen. If you use chalk, you can reuse the tags! The sayings are stamped and heat embossed with white embossing powder, then I used my finger to add some white ink over the top to create the chalkboard effect. I added little blooms and sprigs with Bigger Blooms stamps and dies.

The Season's Greetings tag also utilizes the Bountiful Banners dies.
